Below is an article written by Natalie, sharing her own personal journey whilst healing in this way to give you an idea of what is included in the sessions.
What is Holistic Healing?
Having been a healer for 30 years and being very familiar with the term ‘holistic healing’ it has only been in the last few months, through some recent health challenges of my own, that I have better understood exactly what holistic healing incorporates.
‘Holistic healing’ is approaching and working on your healing on every single level of who you are. Often self-healing is half-hearted and many people think that they are doing enough even when things are not getting better.
Many of us know that to be well you have to be balanced in body, mind and spirit. Your beliefs and emotional condition play a big part in whatever is wrong with you physically, and of course exercise and nutrition are important factors too.
But how committed are we all to this process? And how much time do we need to spend on ourselves daily to heal? And when you feel so ill that you’re not eating properly and you can’t exercise and you are at your lowest and darkest points, what do you do?
This is when I realised that I had to get serious with myself and completely commit and do whatever it took to get better, by creating a healing program that was going to work and was right for me. It is clear that what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another and what had worked in the past didn’t seem to be working now.
So the first thing that I did was too set a new intention that I was going to find all of the solutions required to heal myself. This meant staying completely present in awareness of all feelings, sensations, thoughts, memories etc happening within my body and mind 24/7. It also meant staying open and paying attention to any signs or signals pointing me in a new direction of self-care. Signals can come through dreams, messages from friends or strangers, on TV, a book you pick up to read, a memory popping up, something falling off of a shelf in front of you, a word coming into your head, a song…just about anything!
During this process I dedicated most of my day to ‘going within’ by working on my emotions and beliefs using different forms of energy psychology, doing meditation/visualizations as well as preparation of pure healthy food to eat and gentle exercise.
Meditation/Visualization.
I visualized myself completely well, happy, energetic and balanced on every level, seeing myself return to a pure state. Through meditation and asking my healing guides, angels and higher self/soul to guide me on this journey I created a relaxed space for guidance and messages to come.
During my meditations I asked my body (specifically my gall bladder in this case) what was needed to help its natural healing process. I actually said ‘what do you need to feel better?’ to my gall bladder! Then sent love to it! Then said sorry for letting the condition get so bad, and then waited for answers….which came.
Healthy Eating
By listening in this way and getting answers from my meditations, I set up a completely different process of healing. Just one of the ways was my diet which altered considerably by eliminating certain foods and adding others. I changed my supplements, and much more!
One of the biggest things that I learnt during this process is that our perceptions of ‘healthy eating’ and ‘healthy living’ vary considerably. I thought that because I was eating ample fruit and veg, taking supplements etc that I was eating very well…I wasn’t!
By paying far more attention to what you are eating and reading the contents of everything…even porridge! You may be shocked at the amount of fats, sugars, salt and unnatural ingredients in so many things, even things that it would never occur to you would contain them! By paying full attention to my body I could tell how happy it was with everything I ate and altered accordingly.
Emotions and Beliefs
All illness is energetic dysfunction. All energetic dysfunction is a negative belief and/or emotions that create a block or weakening in your energy field which will eventually manifest into a physical health problem if left unresolved. There are some really helpful books available that will help to guide you to understand what beliefs and emotions are connected to your particular illness.
In order to heal, we have to be in a positive relaxed state. Your energy is affected by everything that you do, feel and think so if you are mostly negative, stressed and doing things on a daily basis that are against what you really want it becomes much harder to heal.
It is important to be really honest with yourself and others that may be around you, staying truthful about what you are feeling emotionally and physically. Please note; this does not mean pretending that you are fine and well when you are not.
When I wasn’t working on the core beliefs and emotions (using things like EFT and other forms of energy psychology) that were connected to my illness, i made sure that I felt good with whatever I was doing. I worked on keeping a balance between letting go and clearing my negative beliefs and feelings whilst staying grounded and in a positive energy the rest of the time. This was particularly important as when doing emotional work it is very easy to lose perspective or stay in a negative emotion that you are having trouble clearing.
During this time I paid particular attention to what I was watching on television, reading and who I was talking to. That meant not watching people with health problems on TV, turning off the news and looking for ‘feel good’ movies and programs.
If you are still in a job or relationship that you know is wrong for you, it is probably time to get honest with yourself and look at changing things. After all if 90% of your day is spent doing something that doesn’t make you happy then you are not in positive energy and how can you expect to activate your self-healing fully?
Some helpful things to remember are:
-You have to put you first in this!
-Stay truthful to yourself and your needs. Learn to say no, pleasing other people will not make you healthy!
-Having hope about your future is essential. When you have hope your energy lifts and you immediately start to feel more positive. For example; making a decision to change a job you are not happy in, leaving a dysfunctional relationship, moving house/area or planning a holiday etc.
-Your body will tell you everything that you need to know in each moment, all you have to do is pay attention. Use your body as a guidance system; it will guide you every step of the way with what it is that you need next. For example, if you eat something and suddenly feel like your energy has dropped that is your body’s way of saying that that particular food is wrong for you at this time. Similarly if by doing something you start to feel worse …stop.
-What you need one day may not be the same in two or three days, it is a continual process of re-tuning to your ‘now’ needs.
-Trust what comes to you and always make a decision on what feels right to you.
-Using your instinct and gut reaction more than your intellect will help you. Or put another way, pay attention to what you are feeling rather than what you are thinking! Be heart based and not head based.
-When you are holistically healing yourself fully it is incredibly time consuming, if it is not taking up most of your day you are probably not doing enough. Which may seem crazy but if you haven’t got your health…what have you got?
-Change your perspective of your illness to that of it being a gift or blessing instead of something you have done wrong. This is your body’s way of showing you where you need to go within yourself and how to grow and move forward in a new and better way.
-Stop resisting the pain, and instead allow yourself to go into the pain to see what it is trying to tell you. Pain is your body’s way of trying to get your attention! Listen to what it is saying but do not wallow in it.
-Do you on a soul level truly want to heal? It all relates to what is deep within you not what you are thinking consciously. Just one example of this is that you could be saying out loud ‘I want to be better’ but deep within you there is a core belief/emotion that you don’t deserve to be better.
And then you have to be prepared to work…
It is important to understand that holistic healing means healing all of you on every level. It is more than likely that one solution will not fix all.
