We are approaching Midwinter, the longest night and the Solstice, heralding a new year. All over the world, and throughout the whole spectrum of faith and belief, midwinter is celebrated as a time of rebirth and renewal. The passing of a point in time where the dark king of winter passes the sceptre to the right king of summer.
Whether we gaze into the flames of the Yule fire or light the candles of the Menorah, reflect on the new beginnings of Al-Hijira or a quiet stable in Bethlehem, this is a time to draw a line under the old year and make a clean start, learning the lessons of the past and building on them, so that we do not waste the opportunity to grow towards the Light in our hearts.
May I wish you all the joy and peace of the midwinter festivals, whatever faith lights your heart, and whatever path your feet may tread.
Namaste.
