I am Algonquin.
I am of bear clan.
I stand proud and free.
Upon my land.
We are taught to respect,
our mother earth.
To guard and protect her.
To help her give birth.
She is tiered and she is worn.
Even though we have sworn,
it is no cause of ours.
We pass the buck.
But we have no luck.
For no one will take the blame.
We step on her heart,
We step on her soul.
And then complain.
We are so bold.
So many chances, we have been given.
But, yet we are not forgiven.
The torment we have given this earth,
may not nourish a rebirth.
The land is dead.
The water poisonous.
We travel through and do not notice.
So please be kind when,
you walk your walk.
And think of mother natures,
gifts you forgot.
